With champagne and iced cakes in a bower of flowers – that’s how Masud Beg, his assistant Trevor and a crowd of customers, friends and family celebrated Mas’ award as the Wanstead Society’s Shopkeeper of the Year 2010.
Chosen by Society members for his helpful service and useful range of goods, Mas is proprietor of Heads N Tails, the pet shop at 23 Wanstead High Street, whose selection goes from birdseed to broom handles, from bunnies to border plants. This year may be one of change for Mas and Trevor; plans for a development comprising nine flats at number 23 and the former Antiques Emporium next door at 21, including new shopfronts, are still pending.
We all hopes that if and when renovations take place at numbers 21 and 23, Mas and Trevor will be speedily reinstalled, and that their well-loved Pet Shop will thrive well into the future.
