The Wanstead Festival was another resounding success for the Wanstead Society, with lots of new members signed up on the day, and 17 of our new 2015 calendars sold!
The Festival, which was held on the 14th September, coincided with the Art Trail which ran until the 25th and saw a variety of local artists display their work in local shops.
The Society has always had a presence at the Festival, which up until this year was funded by the Councils Area 1 Committee, but funding for 2016 is not yet confirmed.
We very much hope the day will continue to be supported by the Council in these hard economic times as it gives the community a fantastic chance to get together and discuss local issues, watch free bands and catch up with friends they haven’t seen for a while.
The Festival provides benefits which can’t be quantified in financial terms and gives all community groups, not just the Wanstead Society, a show case for what they offer the community as well as promoting a Village spirit particular to Wanstead.
