The Wanstead Society was granted planning permission for the Evergreen Field on
20th March. The permission means that the field has permission for community use
only.
The aim of the society is to turn the field into part of the park with planted areas for
native and wild flowers.
This is the first step in our plan to ensure the field is opened up and used by the
community. For over nearly 50 years the site has been left redundant and recent
concerns over developing the land for housing or religious purposes have prompted
the society to look at ways in which we can secure this space for the many, and not
the few.
As the site sits in the centre of our community we believe that the site should be
opened up to the community, the fences removed and field make good with level
grass areas and space for planting.
We hope you agree and if you want to, leave us a comment on the “comments”
section.
