Council Abolishes Conservation Advisory Panel

Budget cuts affecting WansteadOn 23rd July 2015 the Council formally abolished the Conservation Advisory Panel (CAP). This Committee was staffed by volunteers and met every 6 weeks to look at planning applications in Conservation Areas. It was abolished to save money. The Society undertook a spirited campaign to save this committee, but the Council ignored us and some of our local Councillors.
We have asked how much this will save, and await an answer. Without CAP and with the Conservation Officer post at the Town Hall also gone, there is very little that stands in the way of over development in Wanstead; well, except for the Wanstead Society that is!
