On Saturday 16th July, the Wanstead Society was pleased to Welcome the Mayor of Redbridge in formally opening the Wanstead Playground. Our Chairman, Scott Wilding, has been a trustee of the Playground Association for 2 years working with parents and guardians to raise over £100,000 for this great cause.
The Wanstead Society donated £1,200 which paid for new pic-nic tables.
It has been a long campaign but its finally open. Scott Said: “My nan used to take me to play at that park when I was little, and now future generations can enjoy this facility. It’s a great bit of news – well done Wanstead for raising all the funds needed”
It is hoped that the play-park will provide free fun for kids for at least 20 years before needing to be replaced again.
